The City Government of Bandung won the Natamukti Nindya award at the 2020 Natamukti Awards which was held virtually on Thursday (17/9/2020). The Mayor of Bandung, Oded M Danial, also participated in the activity from the Bandung Command Center.

The Natamukti Awards are an award from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) to local governments that are able to encourage the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia.

The city of Bandung has won the Natamukti award four times in a row. In this fifth year, the award has moved up to the Natamukti Nindya category. Natamukti Nindya is the highest award from Natamukti.

Bandung City together with Cimahi City and East Jakarta Administrative City as the winner of Natamukti Nindya is the best of the best of all Natamukti winners.

One of the assessments made by the jury was the ability of local governments to encourage MSMEs to survive amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The assessment was based on three frameworks, namely market commercialization, product innovation, and brand-related operational processes.

The three components were adapted to pandemic conditions. The assessment team also saw the ability of each region to encourage promotion of MSMEs in the midst of a crisis.

The local government was also assessed on how much effort it takes to educate entrepreneurship in the community and how many regulations are produced in order to create a resilient MSME ecosystem during the pandemic.

The Mayor of Bandung, Oded M Danial, expressed his gratitude for the award. He admitted that he was glad that his efforts in maintaining the economy of Bandung City, which were mostly supported by MSMEs, could receive appreciation.

"Bandung City Government has committed to increase the capacity of MSME entrepreneurs so that they are competitive not only at the national, regional but also even at international levels," said Oded.

One of the steps rolled out by the Bandung City Government is the MSME Recovery Center which is fronted by the Cooperative and MSME Agency. This innovation is a combination of business meetings, coaching, and training activities for MSME entrepreneurs who have been affected by the pandemic.

"We have been trying to bring collaboration in the city of Bandung after we involved government civil apparatus, local government agencies, to innovate. I hope that Bandung city will not only get an award, but Bandung's economic wheels can also move faster," he said.
